Haverhill Gateway
The project was to crate a unique artwork working with and using the skills of community and its businesses. Initial designs were provided 6th form students in both of the town’s upper schools. These in tern were interpreted by the artist and with the help of local businesses and developed made into a design that could be manufactured by and in the town. The work is a “Gyratory” form reflecting the circular movement around the site and patterns created by the multi layered mesh change as the observer moves. Comprising a partially unfurled cone of stainless steel mesh 10m high. Lighting comprises an imaginative use of standard flood lighting and a laser enabling some of the illumination and effects to be seen during the day
The images show views of the artwork along with some of the student maquettes, and images they took when visiting some of the fabricators workshops. There is also an engineering strain graphic which demonstrates wind action.
